AFER is the only specialized technical body of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure designated to issue authorizations, certificates, homologations and approvals, and to carry out technical inspection activities in the railway field, subway transport, light rail, monorail, and urban, suburban and regional rail transport, as well as heritage, museum or tourist railways.

Romanian Railway Notified Body The notified body liable to perform, tests, technical assessments and technical inspection to ensures the interoperability of the high speed and conventional trans-European railway transport system.
