ONFR is designated and notified by the Ministry of Transports as the third part body for products certification ( railway constituents/subsystems ) in the field regulated by the interoperability technical specifications ( STI for: rolling stock, infrastructure, command- control- signalling, power, operation and traffic management, maintenance). The ONFR register number as recognized notified body for the conformity assessment accoding to the Directives 2001/16/EC and 96/48/EC is NB 1867 (http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/newapproach/nando/).
ONFR is notified to perform tests, assessments of the management systems, technical assessments and technical inspection necessary to prove the conformity or the suitability for use of the structural and functional constituents and subsystems that ensure the high speed and conventional trans-European railway transport system interoperability, at the request of interested companies
ONFR operates in accordance with the provisions of HG no. 850/2003, HGR 1533/2003 and HGR 1563/2006, respectively in accordance with the Directives 2001/16/CE and 96/48/CE and with the connected technical specifications on interoperability, using the modulus for the conformity assessment B, C, D, F, H2 and V for the constituents and SB, SD, SF, SG and SH2 for the railway subsystems
ONFR - AFER can ensure the certification of the railway products/services based on the Law no. 608/2001, in the following situations:
- when there are harmonized technical specifications or European standards ( others than those stipulated in the interoperability technical specifications ), in order to apply the mark "EC"
- when there are no harmonized technical specifications or European standars ( but only the producer’s specification or national standars ), without applying the mark "EC"
